Fake Job Racket Targeting Tata Semiconductor Project Busted in Assam

With the Tata Semiconductor project coming up at Jagiroad, scammers have been duping unemployed youths with fake job offers. Morigaon Police arrested several accused, including Saiqul Islam, a lecturer from Nagaon, who allegedly issued fake training sessions and appointment letters using forged Tata Group letterheads.
Police said around 200 youths were cheated, with victims paying ₹5,000 initially and later ₹20,000–₹30,000 each. Following investigation, about ₹24.95 lakh found in the accused’s bank accounts was attached on court orders.
Officials said similar fraud attempts surfaced earlier, including fake online recruitment ads in the name of Tata Group, prompting police action and arrests, and warned job seekers to remain cautious.
