Fire in Jhansi NICU Claims Lives of 10 Infants
A fire in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Maharani Laxmibai Medical College, Jhansi, on Friday night resulted in the deaths of 10 infants. The fire, caused by an electrical short circuit, occurred while 47 infants were in the ward. Authorities confirmed that the babies were in incubators when the fire broke out. Sixteen others were injured. Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak announced a multi-level probe into the incident, while Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed swift relief efforts.
