Five Arrested for Alleged Gang Rape of Mentally Challenged Woman in Karimganj, Assam

Five youths were arrested for allegedly gang-raping a mentally challenged woman in Karimganj, Assam. The incident occurred on the night of July 1 in the Kayasthagram area under Nilambazar police station. The victim was reportedly wandering the streets when the accused forcibly took her into an autorickshaw and sexually assaulted her.

Following the crime, SP Partha Pratim Das ordered an immediate investigation. Additional SP Pratap Das and OC Nilambazar PS collected CCTV footage, leading to the arrest of the accused on Tuesday evening. The arrested individuals are Fakhr Mia, Abdul Mastaq, Shamim Uddin, Riyaz Uddin, and Pranesh Sharma.
