Five Arrested for Vandalising Kali Idols in Assam’s Darrang

Darrang Police arrested five people for vandalising 13 earthen idols of Hindu deities, including Goddess Kali, across multiple temples under Mowamari Gaon Panchayat on January 21. The arrests followed intensified operations led by the district police chief. The accused have been booked under relevant BNS sections and sent to judicial custody. In a separate action, police also arrested a notorious land grabber for allegedly encroaching on government land and past acts of violence against local farmers.
