Former Assam School Principal Arrested in Rs 22.65 Lakh Embezzlement Scam

Dr. Nagen Chandra Das, the former principal of Amranga Borihat Higher Secondary School in Kamrup Rural, Assam, has been arrested for embezzling Rs 22.65 lakh in school funds. The scam, which occurred between 2012 and 2017, was uncovered during a routine government audit. Dr. Das faces charges under Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the IPC. The allegations were brought to light by the school management committee, prompting an investigation by the state’s vigilance department. Dr. Das remains in custody as investigations continue.
