Former Bilasipara MLA Ali Akbar Miah Arrested Over Alleged Remarks

Police arrested former West Bilasipara MLA Ali Akbar Miah over alleged controversial remarks related to animal sacrifice during Eid-ul-Zuha and comments against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

A case was registered at Bilasipara Police Station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Following an operation at his residence, Miah was taken into custody and later shifted to Dhubri Sadar Police Station for further interrogation.

The incident comes amid appeals by several Muslim organisations in Dhubri to maintain communal harmony during Bakrid celebrations.
