Four Rohingyas Arrested in Cachar for Illegal Entry

Security forces arrested four Rohingyas, including two women, in Assam’s Cachar district on Friday for illegally entering India. The arrests were made in the Katigorah area, where forged documents, including refugee cards, were recovered from their possession.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reiterated that the state will intensify its crackdown on illegal infiltration, stating that Assam will not be allowed to become a shelter for undocumented foreigners. He said large-scale push-back operations were carried out in 2025 and will be pursued more aggressively in 2026.
The Chief Minister maintained that illegal infiltration threatens Assam’s demographic balance and security, and affirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the Assam Accord and protecting indigenous rights.
