Gauhati HC: Pensioners Retired Between 2006–2009 Entitled to Revision

The Gauhati High Court has ruled that all pensioners who retired between January 1, 2006, and March 31, 2009, form a single class with those retiring after March 31, 2009, and are entitled to revised pensions under the Assam Pay Commission, 2008. The court held that denying benefits to this group on grounds of financial stringency was arbitrary and violative of Article 14, affirming that pensioners cannot be divided into separate classes once pay commission recommendations are implemented.
