Gauhati University Clarifies PGSU Election Nomination Dispute

Guwahati: Gauhati University has rejected what it called misleading information regarding the nomination and grievance process for the PGSU Election 2026-27. The university said the nomination of Nayan Akash Bora and another candidate, Pratik Sharma, was cancelled after scrutiny and review by the Election Tribunal.

Bora later filed appeals, following which an Appeal Hearing Committee and Grievances Redressal Cell were formed. The university also raised concerns over his enrolment in two postgraduate programmes and said the election process was being conducted according to established rules and the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations.
