Gauhati University Employee Arrested for Accepting Bribe to Alter Marks

Ankur Barman, an employee of Gauhati University, was suspended and handed over to the police on November 14 for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 to increase a student’s marks. The university immediately reported the incident to the police, who have taken Barman into custody for questioning. This follows a previous marks scandal at the university earlier this year. State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu had previously criticized third-party involvement in the examination process and recommended integrating the university with the Samarth e-Gov portal for better management and security of academic records.
