Gaurav Gogoi Criticises Govt Over Tea Workers’ Land Bill

Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on Saturday criticised the Assam government over the Land Ceiling Amendment Bill that seeks to provide land pattas to tea garden workers. He questioned the timing and intent of the move, calling it “political and impractical.”
Gogoi accused the government of neglecting the tea industry, failing to provide basic services in tea estates, and allowing ownership confusion. He demanded transparency on tea estates allegedly owned by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s family.
He announced that Congress will hold health camps in tea gardens from November 30 and launch protests from December 10, alleging corruption and poor implementation of welfare schemes for the tea community.
