Gaurav Gogoi Demands BJP Apology Over Freedom Struggle Remarks

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said the BJP should apologise in Parliament for what he termed the failure of its “political ancestors” to join India’s freedom movement. He stated that while BJP celebrates Vande Mataram, its historical spirit against British rule was absent in their actions.

Gogoi also criticised the conduct in Lok Sabha, saying he was saddened that the Leader of Opposition had to assert he was not being allowed to speak. He suggested the BJP’s hostility toward Rahul Gandhi was affecting respect for the LoP’s position, which he said must be honoured in a democracy.

He questioned the Speaker’s repeated reminders on allowing the LoP to speak and urged the BJP to show genuine respect by giving the LoP his rightful chance to address the House.
