Gaurav Gogoi Questions Delay in Jorhat-Majuli Bridge Project

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi raised concerns in Parliament over the stalled Jorhat-Majuli bridge project, questioning Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on the delay in re-tendering. The ₹925 crore project, halted since September 2024, has only 30% work completed, with costs now rising to ₹1,225 crore. Despite assurances of a new contractor in January, no progress has been made. The Assam government had announced replacing the original contractor, but delays persist, causing frustration. Once completed, the 8-km bridge will enhance connectivity for Majuli, the world’s largest river island.
