Gaurav Gogoi Says Assam Polls a ‘Congress vs Congress’ Battle

With just 18 days left for the Assam Assembly elections, APCC chief Gaurav Gogoi said the contest is not BJP vs Congress, but a fight between two factions of Congress.
Campaigning in Majuli for Dr. Indranil Pegu, Gogoi alleged that leaders who left Congress are now in BJP, calling it “Congress under Himanta Biswa Sarma.” He contrasted it with Congress following Tarun Gogoi’s ideals.
He claimed defections have strengthened Congress and accused the BJP of using fear and misinformation. Gogoi expressed confidence in Congress gaining momentum, especially in Upper and North Assam, and in Pegu’s victory in Majuli.
