Gaurav Gogoi Seeks Suspension of Toll Collection on Assam’s Poor Highways

Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi has urged Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to suspend toll collection on NH-27 and NH-37 until repairs are made. He said roads are plagued by potholes, waterlogging, and uneven surfaces, causing accidents and delays. Gogoi cited protests against rising tolls and referenced a Supreme Court judgment stating tolls cannot be charged on unsafe roads. He demanded an audit of all toll plazas in Assam to ensure maintenance standards.
