GMC Urges Guwahati Residents to Dispose of Hazardous Waste Responsibly

GUWAHATI, October 20: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has urged residents to separate hazardous household waste from regular garbage to protect public health and minimise environmental damage.
In an awareness message shared on X, the civic body identified batteries, expired medicines, broken bulbs, paint cans and insecticide containers as items requiring special handling and separate disposal. GMC warned that improper disposal of these materials could pose risks to both people and the environment.
The accompanying awareness poster highlights the use of a black dustbin for hazardous waste and encourages citizens to adopt responsible waste segregation practices. The initiative aims to promote a cleaner, safer and healthier Guwahati through greater public participation in waste management.
