Greenfield Airport to Be Developed in Karbi Anglong

The Union Civil Aviation Ministry will develop a Greenfield airport in Karbi Anglong, Assam, about 61 km from Dimapur Airport. Minister Murlidhar Mohol announced the project in Parliament, noting it is among 21 approved Greenfield airports nationwide. Assam has acquired the required land, and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is conducting surveys. The airport, located in Diphu’s Chotalangfer area, will connect to major cities and boost regional development, employment, and tourism. The project is part of the 2021 Karbi Anglong peace agreement under the Special Development Project (SDP).
