GST Cuts Boost Festive Consumption, Benefits Extended to Consumers

The government confirmed that recent GST cuts, effective from September 22, are benefiting consumers during the festive season. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the reforms have increased consumption and improved fiscal space. Over 3,900 GST-related queries and grievances have been addressed, with sectors like automobiles and e-commerce passing on the benefits. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw noted the cuts could boost consumption by over ₹20 lakh crore this year.
