GST Officials Detect Rs 1.52 Crore Tax Evasion in Guwahati Raids

The GST Intelligence and Enforcement Unit, Assam, conducted raids at two electrical goods businesses in Lakhtakiya, Guwahati, on Thursday over suspected tax evasion. The searches were carried out at M/S Paras Electrical, owned by Sanjay Jain, and M/S Golden Electrical Co., owned by Subhas Kumar Pirojiwal. Officials examined account books, documents and stock after detecting discrepancies in their GST records.

According to preliminary findings, tax evasion amounting to Rs 1.52 crore was detected in the two cases. The department recovered Rs 95 lakh on the spot and gave the businesses one week to deposit the remaining amount. Officials also highlighted concerns over businesses trading goods without issuing invoices.
