Guwahati Bans Processions to Ease Traffic Congestion

Guwahati Police banned all processions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, citing traffic congestion and emergency service delays. The order, issued on February 10, 2025, takes immediate effect, with violators facing action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Affected citizens can file objections for modification or cancellation. Meanwhile, Guwahati Traffic Police removed 174 abandoned vehicles to ease congestion and improve road safety, urging owners not to leave vehicles unattended.
