Guwahati Court Passes Key Orders in Zubeen Garg Death Case

A Guwahati sessions court passed several key orders in the Zubeen Garg death case, including de-freezing the bank account of accused Shyamkanu Mahanta due to procedural lapses by investigators. The court also directed the prosecution to share a pen drive with the defence, rejected access to the “Singapore files,” and ordered continued attachment of another accused’s apartment, seeking a ₹16 lakh demand draft for reopening it. Remand and charge hearings are set for March 13. The case remains under public scrutiny, even as the Assam Cabinet has approved a fast-track court to speed up the trial.
