Guwahati Doctor Loses Rs 2 Crore in Investment Scam

A Guwahati-based doctor lost Rs 2 crore in a financial scam after being lured into a fraudulent investment scheme through a link on Facebook. Redirected to a Telegram group sharing investment tips, the doctor initially saw promising returns and invested more money over three months. When he tried to withdraw earnings, scammers imposed fake taxes, eventually amassing Rs 2 crore. After realizing the scam, he reported it to the Cyber Police Station in Guwahati. Police have recovered Rs 42,17,839 so far, and efforts continue to recover the remaining amount. The incident underscores the risks of online investments and the importance of verifying financial tips from social media.
