Guwahati Faces Water Supply Disruption Due to Replacement Work on Main Pipeline

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has announced a disruption in water supply from June 1 to June 2, 2024, due to the replacement of the existing 450-mm-diameter pumping main from the Panbazar Water Treatment Plant to the Sarania reservoir. This work, carried out by Northeast Frontier Railway, is expected to take approximately 48 hours. Affected areas include Saraniya, Ulubari, Lachit Nagar, Gandhi Basti, Rehabari, BK Kakati Road, Manipuri Basti, B. Borooah Road, Kachari Basti, and Islampur. GMC has urged consumers to cooperate during this period, with water supply resuming upon completion of the work.
