Guwahati Lawyers Protest Office Relocation Plan, Hold Hunger Strike

The Lawyers’ Association, Guwahati, on Tuesday staged a hunger strike opposing the state government’s plan to relocate its riverside office for a riverfront beautification project. Advocates sat in protest from 9 am to 4 pm, stating that the move would disrupt judicial functioning.

The association also announced a boycott of the Gauhati High Court foundation stone-laying ceremony on January 11 and said the protest would continue until the relocation plan is withdrawn.
