Guwahati Police Detains Driver in Hit-and-Run Case Resulting in Banker’s Death

Guwahati police have detained Priyanka Tamuly, wife of a senior journalist and a teacher at Cotton Collegiate Government Higher Secondary School, in connection with a hit-and-run incident near Handique Girls’ College. The incident led to the death of Bhargab Jyoti Barman, a bank employee from Sarupeta. Priyanka Tamuly was driving the Hyundai i20 car involved in the collision with Barman’s two-wheeler, registered as AS01 FN 0144. She fled the scene after the accident, prompting police to register a case under IPC sections 279, 304A, and 427. The police investigation subsequently led to the seizure of the vehicle and Priyanka Tamuly’s detention.
