Guwahati Police Organize Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Program for Women Officers
On the eve of International Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Guwahati Police Commissionerate, in collaboration with the Assam Police Sishu Mitra Resource Centre (SMRC), conducted an educative program aimed at raising awareness about menstrual hygiene management (MHM) among women police officers. The objective was to break social taboos surrounding menstruation and emphasize the importance of good menstrual hygiene practices. MHM expert Swetangana Bhuyan Jha led an interactive session, highlighting various MHM practices and emphasizing the need for a supportive professional environment free from stigma for women police officers, who often face challenges accessing MHM facilities while working in the field. The program aimed to ensure the health, efficiency, confidence, and mental well-being of women officers.
