Heavy Rains Cause Rising Water Levels in Barak River, Leading to Severe Waterlogging
Heavy rain over the past three days has caused the Barak River and its tributaries to rise. Although the water level at Annapurna Ghat is still below the danger level of 19.83 meters, it is increasing rapidly by 2 to 5 centimeters per hour. At 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the water level was recorded at 18.96 meters, rising by 5 centimeters per hour. The ongoing rain has led to significant waterlogging in the second-largest urban area, submerging many lanes, bylanes, and low-lying areas, causing substantial difficulties for residents.
