Guwahati experienced heavy rains on Monday afternoon, leading to significant flooding across the city. The downpour, lasting about an hour, caused knee-deep to waist-deep water levels on major roads like GS Road and Maniram Dewan Road. Key areas such as Chandmari, Zoo Road, and several localities including Six Mile, Rukminigaon, and Ganeshguri were severely affected. Traffic came to a standstill, with many vehicles stuck in waterlogged intersections, causing massive congestion. Despite prior rain warnings, the sudden deluge brought the city to a halt, with the traffic impact expected to last for hours.
