Northeast’s First Visa Application Centre Inaugurated in Guwahati

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to inaugurate the Northeast’s first Visa Application Centre, established by VFS Global, at the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT), Khanapara, Guwahati, on October 15, 2026, at 1 PM. The facility will provide visa application services for several countries, making international travel-related services more accessible to residents of Assam and other northeastern states.

The centre will offer Schengen visa services for Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Italy, Latvia and Switzerland, allowing applicants to explore 29 European countries. Other visa services will cover Cyprus, Egypt, Ireland, Japan, Malta (D-Visa), Morocco and the United Kingdom. Assam Ministers Ajanta Neog and Charan Boro are also scheduled to attend the inaugural ceremony. Visa approval and entry remain at the discretion of the respective country’s embassy or consulate.
