Hunger Strike in West Karbi Anglong Enters Sixth Day Over Eviction Demand

An indefinite hunger strike at Phelangpi in West Karbi Anglong entered its sixth day on Friday, with indigenous residents demanding eviction drives in grazing lands to protect jati, mati, and bheti. Protesters alleged that neither the Assam government nor the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council has responded to their demands.
The District Magistrate visited the site and held talks, assuring that the issues would be placed before the government for a peaceful solution. However, the agitators said they will continue the hunger strike until concrete action is announced.
