Hunger Strike Over Illegal Building Demolition Delay Called Off in Dibrugarh

A fast-unto-death protest in Dibrugarh over the slow demolition of an illegal G+4 building, linked to the death of Salma Begum, was called off late Thursday after authorities assured speedy action.

Residents launched the protest accusing officials of negligence and demanding justice after debris from the illegal structure fell on Begum’s house, killing her.

Officials from the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation and district administration promised immediate engagement of contractors to complete the demolition without delay. Protesters warned they would resume agitation if progress stalls.
