IIT Guwahati Develops Eco-Friendly Method to Convert Methane into Biofuels

Researchers at IIT Guwahati have created a biological method using Methylosinus trichosporium bacteria to convert methane and carbon dioxide into bio-methanol. This process, which avoids toxic by-products and expensive catalysts, offers an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to traditional methods. The bio-methanol, blended with diesel, significantly reduces emissions and improves engine efficiency, marking a sustainable breakthrough in tackling greenhouse gases and fossil fuel dependency.
