IIT Guwahati Marks 20 Years of RuTAG with Rural Innovations

IIT Guwahati celebrated 20 years of the Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG), highlighting its impact in delivering affordable technologies to rural communities across Northeast India.

Since 2006, the initiative has developed innovations like improved tools for farmers and artisans, solar-powered equipment, and low-cost machines that boost productivity and livelihoods. Several technologies have also gained national recognition under government programmes.

In its next phase, RuTAG 2.0 will focus on patenting and commercialising these innovations to expand their reach and long-term impact.
