In Guwahati, veteran journalist Manjit Mahanta passes away

Veteran journalist and chairman of the media department of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Manjit Mahanta passed away in the early hours of Monday in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

He had started his journalism career with Ajir Axom, the Assamese daily from the Sentinel group and later served as the executive editor. Afterwards, he decided to get into politics and contested in the elections for the Dispur constituency on a Congress party ticket in 2021. He also became the chairman of the media committee of APCC.
