Inauguration of Handloom Art Tourism Village Boosts Rural Economy in Bokakhat

Minister Atul Bora formally inaugurated the handloom art tourism village near Kaziranga National Park in Bokakhat sub-division. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting indigenous culture, he highlighted the potential of the handloom industry in providing self-employment opportunities for women and contributing to the rural economy. Minister UG Brahma reiterated the government’s efforts to empower women through self-employment initiatives. The project aims to enhance livelihood opportunities for local weavers, especially women, and support villagers in generating additional income. Certificates were distributed to weavers trained under skill development programs during the inaugural function. The handloom industry tourism village, located in Mohpara, is a significant project of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, implemented by the Weavers’ Service Centre Guwahati and the sub-divisional magistrate’s office in Bokakhat.
