Incessant Rain Triggers Flood, Erosion in Sonitpur

Continuous rain has caused major tributaries of the Brahmaputra to overflow, flooding over 20 villages in Sonitpur district. Areas in Barchala, Dhekiajuli, and Tezpur are severely affected, with croplands damaged and erosion reported in Sarako Baliga and Bihaguri-Jhaonigaon. Tezpur town and Dhekiajuli have witnessed heavy waterlogging, which locals blame on illegal land occupation and unplanned construction.
