India Post Opens Assam’s First ‘Gen Z Hangout Café’ at Gauhati University

The Indian Postal Department on Thursday inaugurated Assam’s first-ever Gen Z Hangout Café at the Gauhati University Post Office campus, aiming to engage youth through a modern, creative space.
Inaugurated by Gauhati University Registrar Prof. Utpal Sharma, the café offers students a relaxed area for interaction and discussion, with free tea currently available and free Wi-Fi to be introduced soon. Postal officials said the initiative blends traditional postal services with contemporary ideas to connect better with younger generations.
The launch featured cultural performances by students, including a song by Zubeen Garg. Officials said the café will also help familiarise students with postal services in a more engaging environment.
