Bangladesh had sought Chinese help for this WWII-era site, now being revived. India is closely monitoring the base’s intended use-civilian, training, or military-and whether it might host Chinese or Pakistani forces. Officials fear it could enable surveillance of Indian troop movements. The base lies within India’s artillery range. Dhaka-Beijing defence ties have deepened, raising strategic concerns for India.
