Indian Railways Tested sectional speed between Malda Town and New Jalpaiguri

Indian Railways has been working hard to modernise its network in order to boost train speeds in its high-density network. A successful speed trial at 130 kmph was carried out at the N.F. Railway’s New Jalpaiguri-Malda section.

The speed trial was run between New Jalpaiguri and Malda (232 km) and Malda and New Jalpaiguri (232 km), both up and down direction. A rake comprising 22 coaches made of LHB-type stock, including one for the Oscillation Monitoring System, was used for the speed trial.
