Indigenous Rights Activist Pranab Doley Arrested in Guwahati

Guwahati: Indigenous rights activist and former Independent Assembly candidate Pranab Doley was arrested by Assam Police on Sunday in connection with a criminal case registered at Bokakhat Police Station. He was detained from the Sundarpur area and is expected to be taken to Bokakhat for further investigation.

Doley alleged that he was taken into custody without being shown an arrest warrant. His arrest comes days after he raised the Ingle Pathar land issue near Kaziranga, where he had opposed the alleged allotment of land to a hospitality company.
