IWDC Clears Rs 900 Crore Inland Waterways Projects, Major Boost for Assam

The third meeting of the Inland Waterways Development Council (IWDC 3.0), chaired by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, approved Rs 900 crore worth of new inland waterways projects to expand India’s river transport network and strengthen Centre–State coordination.
Key approvals for Assam include a Rs 70-crore cruise terminal at Uzanbazar in Guwahati and a Rs 144-crore approach corridor to the Bogibeel river port in Dibrugarh. The projects aim to boost inland waterway infrastructure, improve connectivity, promote river tourism, and generate employment across the Northeast.
