Jairam Ramesh Slams Police Action at Khera’s Residence, Calls It ‘Witch Hunt’

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticised the Assam Police searches at Pawan Khera’s Delhi residence, calling it a “witch hunt” and claiming it reflects panic in Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s camp ahead of elections.

Police visited Khera’s residence following an FIR filed by Riniki Bhuyan Sarma over allegations regarding her alleged foreign passports and assets. However, Khera was not found at home, and police said efforts are underway to trace him.

Ramesh alleged misuse of state machinery to silence the Opposition, while Sarma maintained that the claims were false, citing foreign authorities denying the allegations.

The controversy, sparked by Congress leaders questioning the Chief Minister’s family, has intensified the political showdown, with both sides trading sharp accusations.
