Jorhat–Majuli Bridge Construction to Resume in December

Work on the long-pending Jorhat–Majuli bridge will restart in December, MLA Bhuban Gam confirmed. The project, stalled for over a year, has now cleared all sanctions and tenders. The main contract has been awarded to SP Singla Company, which has begun site preparations.
PWD officials said groundwork is complete and both bridge and road construction will progress together. The bridge will cost ₹659 crore, with ₹194 crore approved for road work. To avoid delays, no sub-contracting will be allowed.
The bridge has been a long-standing demand for Majuli residents, who rely on often-disrupted ferry services.
