Landslide Cuts Off Assam-Meghalaya Border Village Connectivity

A massive landslide in Langturi hills near Boko cut off the Lumpi area along the Assam-Meghalaya border on Saturday. Triggered by continuous rain, the slide blocked roads with boulders and mud, isolating around 30 villages, including Lampi, Dronpara, and Harshnagar. No casualties were reported, but residents face shortages of food and medical aid. A pregnant woman had to be escorted through the debris for treatment. PWD engineer Manik Dutta said clearance work is ongoing and roads may reopen in 2–3 days, weather permitting.
