Magnitude 7.1 Earthquake Strikes Tibet, Tremors Felt in India
A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Tibet near the Nepal border at 6:35 AM, causing significant damage and nine deaths. Tremors were felt in Bihar, Assam, and West Bengal. Severely affected areas include Longsuo, Quluo, and Cuoguo, with rescue operations underway. Two aftershocks of 4.7 and 4.9 magnitudes followed soon after. No damage was reported in India, but panic ensued. Tibet’s location in a seismic zone makes it prone to such earthquakes.
