Maha Kumbh 2025 Begins with Paush Purnima Bath in Prayagraj

The Maha Kumbh 2025 started in Prayagraj on Paush Purnima, drawing over 1.7 crore devotees to the Sangam for a holy dip. Despite 10°C temperatures, pilgrims embraced the spiritual event, which marks the harvest season’s end and transitions from Paush to Magh.

This year’s Kumbh is special due to a rare celestial event occurring once every 144 years. The ceremonial bath began at dawn and featured rose petal showers and devotional chants. International visitors and ascetics added to the cultural and spiritual vibrancy.

Security was tight with 50,000 personnel ensuring safety across the 10,000-acre venue. Larger crowds are expected on Makar Sankranti for the Amrit Snan of akharas.
