Majority of Jorhat Tea Gardens Pay Bonus Smoothly

The payment of bonuses to tea estate workers in Jorhat is progressing smoothly. Out of 86 tea gardens, 68 have paid the bonuses, with most declaring 20% and disbursing in two installments—before Durga Puja and Magh Bihu. The Assistant Labour Commissioner, Rupali Pegu, mentioned that bonus settlements for Hoolungoree and Sycotta estates were finalized in a meeting on Thursday. Sycotta workers requested payment by October 5, and efforts are ongoing to expedite it. The Labour Department had earlier advised completing bonus payments by September 25.
