Majuli-Jorhat Bridge Construction Stalled, CM Seeks Nitin Gadkari’s Intervention

Work on the Majuli-Jorhat bridge has been halted since September 5 due to a dispute between contractors. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, seeking intervention, as the EPC contractor, UP State Bridge Corporation Limited, left the site.

Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, Jorhat MP, also sought clarification from the state government regarding the issue. The project, awarded in August 2021, has a budget of Rs 650 crore and an expected completion date of December 2025. CM Sarma emphasized that any further delays could result in cost and time overruns, urging swift corrective measures, including re-tendering if necessary.
