Majuli Residents Express Discontent Over Delayed Heritage Bill

Residents of Majuli are upset after the bill to declare the entire island as a heritage site with “Heritage Belts and Blocks” was left pending in the recent Assam Legislative Assembly session. In response, Majulir Sahitya, an NGO advocating for the protection of Majuli’s culture, will hold a public meeting on September 8 at Majuli Milan Sangha in Kamalabari. The meeting aims to demand the swift passing of the bill to safeguard the island’s rich Xatriya culture.
