Man Arrested for Impersonating Defence Ministry Official in Guwahati

Guwahati police arrested Dipjyoti Das of Sarpara, Palashbari, for allegedly posing as a senior official of the Defence Ministry and DRDO for nearly three years. He used a white Fortuner with a fake designation plate and siren, patrolled VIP areas near LGBI Airport, and reportedly threatened people with a pistol.

Police intercepted his vehicle on a tip-off, recovered forged documents and a pistol cover, and seized the SUV. Das had earlier used fake credentials to appear as a special guest at events and even obtained a bogus PhD in 2022. Investigators suspect he is linked to a wider fraud network.
